The Winn Family Story
For more than 135 years, Winn Nursery of Virginia Inc. has proudly nurtured strong connections and delivered quality landscaping solutions for residential, commercial, and municipal projects across the region. Family-owned and now in its fifth generation, the company’s deep roots trace back to 1885, when A.C. Winn founded the original nursery.
In 1920, his son Wirt L. Winn opened a new office and nursery on Granby Street in Norfolk, where his two sons, Wendall and Bill, dedicated many years to growing the business. Following their retirement, the next generation—Barclay and Carter Winn—took the helm and later moved the nursery to 1201 Liberty Street in Norfolk in 1996.
Continuing the proud family tradition, Clay, Wendall, and Jimmy Winn assumed leadership in 2024, ensuring the legacy of excellence and integrity endures for generations to come.
